Along with Dell's other Gen 13 PowerEdge servers, the R430 features the latest technology to increase performance while reducing power usage and operational costs. This high-density, 1U, two-socket rack server is virtualization-ready and suitable for a variety of common compute tasks including surveillance, site security, web serving, or as a solid base for a PowerEdge deployment.
Intel's C610 chipset supports two Xeon E5-2600 v3 or E5-2600 v4 processors and DDR4 memory. Embedded PCIe lanes offer improved I/O and Dell's Failsafe Hypervisor, standard on the Gen 13 models, supports full redundancy on many virtualized tasks and workloads. The R430 supports optional hot-plug drives, fans, and power supplies, providing enterprise-class reliability and performance 24/7.
Twelve DIMM slots support a maximum capacity of 384GB of registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) in a two processor configuration. A single processor will support up to 256GB of memory using eight DIMM slots, while the second processor controls the remaining four memory slots. This enables SMBs to get the most out of the system with a single processor configuration and minimal expenditure. DDR4 memory also offers 15% greater bandwidth and uses 30% less power than the previous generation DDR3 memory modules.
To ensure maximum flexibility and optimize performance for a variety of uses, the R430 is compatible with SAS, SATA, Nearline SAS, SSDs and HDDs. Four chassis options offer flexibility when choosing storage options, see specifications.
In addition to DDR4 DIMMs and multiple storage options, the PowerEdge R430 supports two PCI-Express slots for additional external devices. This system is virtualization ready and supports several optional PERC controllers to provide the full range of RAID options. The Gen3 PCIe slots on this system deliver twice the throughput compared to Gen2 PCIe slots.
As with all Gen 13 PowerEdge servers, iDRAC8 (integrated Dell Remote Access Controller) basic is standard equipment and provides administrators with on-site and out of band management features. Optional iDRAC8 Enterprise with LifeCycle Controller provides additional easy to use automation tools for health status, configuration, and system updates including remote management and email alerts. iDRAC8 enterprise along with Dell's OpenManage Essentials software delivers even more tools for remote management and updating.
Overall, the Dell PowerEdge R430 is among the best of the best when it comes to utilization of compute power and reduced power consumption. Virtualization-ready, the R430 is small yet powerful and features impressive numbers when used for high-performance computing tasks. Multiple chassis configurations, PCIe 3.0 slots, and DDR4 memory offer performance options to administrators and support the R430's ability to adapt to your changing needs as your business grows.
