Featuring up to 6TB of memory when all 24x memory module slots are filled, the ASUS RS700A-E12-RS12U supports dual 4th generation AMD EPYC 9004 processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology at up to 400W per socket. The high TDP CPUs are available due to the help from an enhanced-volume air-cooling (EVAC) heatsink. These CPUs deliver up to 128 Zen 4c cores and a 12-channel memory architecture with speeds up to 4800 MHz. In addition to the 12x 2.5" hot-swap drive bays on the front panel for NVMe, SATA, or SAS configurations, the motherboard on this 1U system also offers 2x M.2 sockets, supporting cards with up to a 2280 form factor.
ASUS RS700A-E12-RS12U Server - System Overview
Up to 4x PCIe Gen5 slots are available on the RS700A-E12-RS12U server, including a space for one dual-slot GPU such as the NVIDIA A100 and A40, or AMD Instinct and Xilinx alternatives. The system accommodates 2x PCIe Gen5 x16 FHFL slots, 1x PCIe Gen5 x16 LP slot, 1x internal PCIe Gen5 x8 slot, and 1x OCP 3.0 Gen5 x16 slot. On the rear of the chassis there are 4x 1Gb RJ45 LAN ports or 2x 10Gb RJ45 LAN ports available. This system is powered by either 1+1 redundant 2000W/1600W 80 PLUS Platinum power supplies or 1+1 redundant 2600W/1600W 80 PLUS Titanium power supplies.
To manage the system, administrators can deploy the ASUS Control Center, a web-based program, to control hardware, software upgrades, and other aspects. All types of systems can be managed in one location, but a license is required. ASUS ASMB11-iKVM also offers remote control via the ASPEED AST2600 module on the motherboard.
