Performance

At the heart of this rack server runs a single processor, but it ensures fast response times. The system can be outfitted with one of several options, the latest quad core Intel Xeon E3-1200 v6 family, or flexible dual core processor options like Intel Pentium, Intel Core i3, or Intel Celeron. The Dell R330 server adapts to changing workload conditions with a virtualization-ready server supporting Microsoft Windows Server with Hyper-V, VMware vSphere ESXi, and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization.

Storage

The Dell PowerEdge R330 Server supports up to 4x 3.5-inch front access hard drives with up to 32TB storage and up to 8x 2.5-inch drives with up to 16 TB storage. It can be configured with either cold or hot-swappable components. One of the interesting features on this system is optional with up to 2x 1.8-inch SATA SSDs mounted in the optical drive bay to accelerate system boot and reboot time. It supports software RAID S130. For more control over your storage or to support SAS HDs and SSDs, an internal Dell PowerEdge Raid Controller, or PERC, card can be installed into a dedicated slot located near the PCIe slots.

Memory

The memory on this rack server has the capacity to expand up to 64 GB through 4x DDR4 memory modules with speeds up to 2400 MT/s, offering 50% faster clock speeds than the previous generation DDR3. Although the memory capacity is significantly less than the former R320, which has 6x DIMM slots and supports up to 192 GB of DDR3, the PowerEdge R330 makes up for it with 64GB of faster DDR4 that can handle rigorous applications.

Expansion

The internal design of this rack server makes it easy to upgrade. There’s room for 1x PCIe 3.0 x8, as well as 1x PCIe 3.0 x16, but you’ll need to add the butterfly riser card when ordering as this isn’t included in the standard model.

Management

Along with the usual operating systems like Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and 2016, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and VMware vSphere ESXi, the Dell EMC R330 Server can also be configured using the Dell OpenManage utility. Administrators can also remotely monitor and control the health and behavior of the server through a mobile device leveraging the integrated Dell remote access controller version 8 (iDRAC).
