The Dell EMC PowerEdge T40 tower server is a dependable, entry-level system based on the Intel socket LGA1151. It features a single Intel Xeon E-2224G processor with up to 4x cores per CPU and a TDP of up to 71W. Compared to the previous generation, this CPU has 25% faster data transfer speed, a faster CPU speed, and a 27% faster turbo speed that will improve the IO performance and hardware-enhanced security, plus allow for premium 4K content. The system has 4x memory sockets with 2x memory channels supported by the CPU, for a total of 64GB when all slots are populated with UDIMMs. The minimum system population is one 8GB DIMM. Memory will run at speeds of up to 2666MT/s.
On the front panel, there is a slim 9.5-mm SATA DVD-ROM drive or DVD+/-RW drive. External optical drives can be connected through USB ports. Under the hood, the tower supports up to 3x PCIe Gen3 full-height, half-length slots. The one-socket PowerEdge T40 tower server is powered by a single, cabled 300W Bronze power supply with auto sensing. This PSU unit will provide power to the system board and up to 3x internal 3.5-inch cabled SATA drives. The chassis also includes an Intel Xeon E processor-compatible Intel UHD Graphics P630 video card.
