The Dell PowerEdge HS5610 Server can be outfitted with up to 10x 2.5-inch SAS, SATA or NVMe storage devices. A 3.5-inch chassis option supports 4x SAS, SATA HDDs or SSDs up front. There is the option to install 2x more 2.5-inch SAS, SATA, NVMe drives in the rear drive cage. To support the OS, Dell offers their Boot Optimized Storage Subsystem, or BOSS, that supports 1x or 2x NVMe M.2 drives. 2x Drives can be configured in mirror mode, RAID 1, for redundancy. Depending on configuration there are several PSUs to choose from ranging from 700W to 1100W Titanium.
On the back of the server, a LOM card offers 1GbE with dual RJ45 ports. In addition, an optional OCP 3.0 mezzanine card can be installed and offers a variety of link speed and port options. If installing the 6x 2.5-inch drives option, there are 2x additional OCP 3.0 card slots available on the front of the chassis, plus a BOSS-N1 slot for support of the OS. The 6x bay version is not compatible with a front bezel but does make it easier for data center serviceability on the cold aisle. For managing the system, Dell provides their integrated Dell Remote Access Controller or iDRAC with LifeCycle Controller. There is also the option of installing Quick Sync 2 on the front of the system for use with Dell’s OpenManage Mobile App for Smart phones or tables and is compatible with both Android and iOS operating systems.
