Storage options include 8x to 12x 3.5-inch SAS, SATA drives, an 8x bay 2.5-inch SAS, SATA, NVMe chassis or one with 24x 2.5-inch bays with a mix of 16x SAS/SATA drive bays paired with 8x NVMe drive bays. The back of the Dell PowerEdge HS5620 Cloud Scale Server can be outfitted with 2x additional 2.5-inch drives. For OS support Dell offer the BOSS-N1, their Boot Optimized Storage Subsystem, that can mount 2x M.2 NVMe drives in a hardware RAID for redundancy.
Network communications include an optional LOM card with dual 1GbE or an optional OCP 3.0 mezzanine card, not both. With a single CPU, the system supports up to 4x PCIe slots with a combination of PCIe Gen 5 and PCIe Gen 4 slots. With both CPUs installed it con support up to 6x PCIe slots, again with a mix of PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 4.0 x8 and x16 slots. There are several riser options to choose from. An optional LCD bezel provides additional security with an integrated lock. The system can be managed remotely via the integrated Dell Remote Management Controller 9, or iDRAC9. The OpenManage utility provides for managing a whole network of servers, storage, chassis, and switches. Optional Quick Sync is also available on this system and works with Dell’s OpenManage mobile app.
