Much like the Dell PowerEdge R210, the Dell PowerEdge R210 II is a single-socket server perfect for small businesses requiring high levels of computing for at a relatively inexpensive price. Its small physical dimensions make it a good choice for smaller businesses.
For an affordable price small to medium-sized businesses can support their business needs with the Dell PowerEdge R210 II server. It is outfitted with a single Intel Xeon processor, which provides dependable performance and reliability for businesses that may not have the physical space or need for a larger system. Physically, it has the smallest dimensions of the Dell 11th generation servers and comes equipped with Dell’s integrated management tools allowing easy system maintenance and management.
The C202 chipset supports a single Intel Xeon processor. You can choose from either the Intel Xeon E3-1200, E3-1200 v2, the dual-core Intel Pentium G600 or G800 series, or the dual-core Intel Celeron G400 or G500 series processor family. A single cabled non-redundant 250W 80+ Silver-rated power supply provides power to the system and components.
Due to its smaller size, the Dell R210 II supports only two 3.5-inch SAS, SATA or HDD or SSD drives for a maximum storage capacity of 6TB. The software-based PERC S100 and PERC S300 support only SATA storage devices. The optional PERC H200 will support SAS and SATA HDD and SSD drivers allowing up to 6 Gb/s transfer speeds. You have a plethora of optional storage controllers to choose from.
Compared to the Dell R210, this system has double the memory with 32GB of unbuffered DDR3 memory modules in four slots. The R210 II supports a minimal memory configuration with just 1GB running at speeds of up to 1600 MHz.
A single PCIe x16 G2 slot is supported on this platform. There are six USB ports, two on the front panel, two on the back panel, and two internal ports.
Dell provides a suite of management tools for this system. The Dell OpenManage grants you easy access to system management both onsite and remotely using iDRAC. iDRAC6 is embedded and runs independently of the OS and provides out-of-band system management. Both iDRAC and OpenManage are easily accessed through a standard web browser.
For its price point, this system is packed with a lot of features to support your business needs. It may not come with a lot of premium features reserved for higher tier Dell systems but it does offer the core features to support your business. Larger companies will also find this system very useful as a test server. Managing this system is easy with Dell’s integrated suite of management tools, freeing your IT staff to work on other more pressing matters.
