Performance

3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 24 cores can be installed in the Dell PowerEdge R450 Server. With two processors installed, it can provide up to 48 cores of processing power. 3rd generation processors support 8x memory channels, and with only 16x memory module slots each DIMM module is hosted in its own memory channel for optimal throughput.

Memory

Supported memory modules include Registered DIMM (RDIMM) modules and will operate at speed of up to 2933MHz on this system.

Storage

There are only 2x storage conditions supported on this system. Either 4x 3.5-inch storage bays for a maximum capacity of up to 64TB or 8x 2.5-inch storage bays supporting up to 61.44TB. Both can be outfitted with SAS or SATA drives types but SAS drives will require an optional PCIe SAS controller. An optional boot optimized storage subsystem or BOSS is supported internally and provides hardware RAID for 2x M.2 SSDs. Another option is the Dual SD module, which offers two SD cards on one side that can be used in mirror mode for redundancy, and a flash storage card on the other for use by the integrated Dell Remote Access Controller for system and firmware updates. Various PowerEdge RAID Controllers, or PERCs, are supported on the system depending on your business needs.

Expansion

At only 1U, there are 2x PCIe Gen 4.0 slots with a x16 physical length and PCIe bus link. An OCP 3.0 mezzanine card offers additional networking ports and connection speeds and can be installed in a dedicated PCIe Gen 4.0 x16 mezzanine card slot.
