At 1U, the PowerEdge R670 motherboard has 2x PCIe Gen5 x16 slots, which can support up to 2x single-width GPUs with a 75W power limit each. Adding GPUs boosts performance while using less energy. There are three power supply options: a 1+1 800W or 1100W Platinum, or a 1+1 1500W Titanium power supply.
There are two setup configurations including rear I/O hot aisle and front I/O cold aisle. The front setup does not support a bezel, making it easier to maintain. Administrators can also use dual OCP 3.0 slots for Broadcom or Mellanox network cards, located either at the front or rear of the chassis, depending on the setup. Dell’s Smart Power and Cooling Technology helps reduce energy use, leading to long-term cost savings and supporting sustainability goals. You can manage the R670 through the built-in Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC10), which is included with all PowerEdge servers. iDRAC10 allows local and remote access without needing extra software, and it supports a RESTful API, including Redfish. For more robust network administration, Dell offers the OpenManage utility.
