Appropriate for virtualization, cloud-native applications distributed inferencing, and large-scale analytics, this flexible 2U system is designed for high-performance computing and balanced performance. CPUs with a thermal design power (TDP) rating of up to 350W can be installed. With 8-channel memory architecture, this system supports 32x memory module slots with both processors installed. With 1x DIMM per Channel (1DPC) memory speeds of up to 6400MT/s are supported. Although with 2DPC memory speeds are reduced to 5200MT/s.
The PowerEdge R770 server delivers several PCIe x16 Gen5 slot options depending on your workload needs and if I/O ports are located in the front (FIO) or back of the system. 2x OCP NIC 3.0 mezzanine card slots are also available for a front I/O configuration or on the rear for a rear I/O configuration. The chassis can be powered by several redundant 1+1 PSU configurations, as listed in the specifications below. An optional security bezel covers the following drive bay options on the front panel:

Management for the R770 includes the integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC10), which is embedded within every PowerEdge server. Administrators can manage the machine by deploying iDRAC10 which allows for both local and remote access, without additional software installations. It facilitates effective and scalable server management by supporting RESTful API, which includes Redfish. For a more robust management of the system, Administrators can use Dell’s OpenManage portfolio.
