The 8-bay Dell PowerEdge XE8640 server is a high-performance system optimized for artificial intelligence, machine learning, HPC modeling and simulation, and deep learning training. It can be outfitted with up to 8x 2.5” NVMe SSD drives for a maximum of 122.88TB of storage to help businesses develop, train, and deploy machine learning models. With a 2-processor configuration, up to 4x PCIe x16 Gen5 slots and 1x OCP 3.0 x8 slot are active providing options for HD controllers or NICs. 2x 1GbE ports in back provide integrated network communications. 2x 2800W Titanium, hot swap power supplies offer redundancy in the event one of them fails. To boot the operating system, this machine supports Dell’s Boot Optimized Storage Subsystem or BOSS. The Boss hosts dual M.2 SSDs that can be placed in a RAID1 configuration for redundancy and accessed at the rear of the chassis. The system is compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Canonical Ubuntu Server LTS, and offers air cooling for both CPUs and liquid assisted air cooling for the 4x GPUs.
