The Dell EMC PowerVault MD3460 storage array provides support for up to 60 drives and four 12Gb/s SAS ports in just a 4U form factor. Management is stress-free with troubleshooting assistance and self-healing dynamic disk rebalancing provided through Dell’s MD Storage Manager Software.
The Dell PowerVault MD3460 storage array is a high performance, 4U platform ideal for consolidation projects that require high availability and reliability. Support for up to four 12Gb/s SAS connections provides twice the amount of throughput connectivity than previous generation storage arrays. Both small form factor (SFF) and large form factor (LFF) SAS drives are supported. For even faster performance, administrators can opt for solid-state drives (SSDs).
Up to 60 drives Can be installed in the Dell EMC MD3460 to provide a maximum storage capacity of 480TB. However, the system can also be daisy-chained with a maximum of two MD3060e SAS based expansion enclosures to support an additional 120 drives. With a Premium Feature kit, the two MD3060e expansion enclosures will support a maximum of 180 drives. SAS, nearline SAS (NL-SAS), SSD, and self-encrypting drives (SEDs) are all supported with SSD drives providing the fastest performance. Up to two storage controllers provide options for 4GB or 8GB cache. Dual controllers mirror each other’s cache in an active-active structure to increase redundancy and system reliability. Administrators can connect up to four high-availability servers, or eight non-redundant servers in a clustered or virtualized environment.
The Dell MD3460 is easily managed by a user-friendly Java application, Dell’s MD Storage Manager Software, which has been simplified with wizard-based tools and a task-guided structure. To further add to the ease of managing this storage array, a “Recovery Guru” is launched automatically to provide troubleshooting guidance when a problem is detected. Dynamic Disk Pool (DDP) software streamlines data management with self-repairing dynamic disk rebalancing. Dell’s optional Premium Feature Key provides additional protection against data loss by taking up to 128 snapshots of data for backup per virtual disk, or 512 snapshots per system.
The Dell EMC PowerVault MD3460 storage array provides high availability and reliability in a 4U chassis. 12Gb/s SAS connections double throughput with support for up to four ports per controller. The addition of an MD3060e expansion enclosure will triple the number of drives supported from 60 to 180 drives. Both 2.5” and 3.5” SAS drives can be used, as well as SSDs for faster performance and increased reliability. Dell’s MD Storage Manager Software reduces downtime and makes for stress-free troubleshooting with a ‘Recovery Guru’ to guide administrators back to an up and running state.
