Description

The Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX300 S8 server is a flexible, highly efficient 2U rack-optimized platform. This dual-socket system supports up to 16 small-form-factor hard-disk or solid-state drives, and up to 1536GB of memory. System management through Fujitsu’s ServerView Suite software allows businesses to save on maintenance costs and minimize system downtime. Performance

This server features Intel’s C6000 chipset, which is capable of supporting one or two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v2 processors. Four to 12 cores of processing power are available depending on the choice of processor, with up to 24 cores available with two high-end processors installed. Intel’s E5-2600 v2 processors are manufactured on 22nm technology with 3D Tri-Gate transistors to provide enhanced power efficiency and performance.

Storage

Storage options are flexible, with four different drive configurations to choose from 6 x 3.5” drives, 8 x 2.5” drives, 12 x 2.5” drives, or 16 x 2.5” drives. Adding to this system’s scalability, Fujitsu offers upgrade kits for hard drives, backup devices, and Linear Tape-Open (LTO) drives. LTO drives offer high storage capacities and powerful tape drive-based 256-bit AES encryption allowing businesses to securely back up their mission-critical data.

Memory

Administrators can install up to 24 DIMMs of DDR3 memory in a dual-processor configuration to provide businesses with the scalability they need to meet future demands. Unbuffered (UDIMM), registered (RDIMM), and load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules are all supported on this system, but they cannot be mixed within a single system. UDIMM and quad-rank RDIMM modules will only support up to eight DIMMs per processor, for a maximum of 16 DIMMs in a dual processor configuration. To reach the server’s maximum memory capacity of 1.5TB requires 24 x 64GB LRDIMM modules.

Expansion

Single processor configurations support up to five PCIe 3.0 x8 slots for expansion. With two processors installed, this system will support two additional PCIe 3.0 slots with x16 bus width. A Modular integrated on-board LAN controller or RAID controller can be installed in any of the x8 PCIe slots if desired. A total of ten USB 2.0 ports are supported with two at the front panel, four ports in the back, two internal ports for backup devices, another internal port to boot the operating system, and a uSSD port.

Management

Fujitsu’s ServerView Suite software provides all of the necessary tools to manage this server throughout its lifecycle. Service costs and system downtime is reduced with the software’s preventative error recognition and integrated diagnostics features. Remote management features allow Admins to perform system maintenance tasks and failure diagnostics from anywhere, minimizing the need for on-site support. Server deployment and operating system installment are streamlined through the software‘s Installation Manager feature which allows Admins to load and configure systems unattended from a local or remote location.
