The NVIDIA HGX Rubin NVL8 is not a single GPU but a complete multi-GPU baseboard system that offers 8x NVIDIA Rubin GPUs paired with high-speed NVLink switches, and networking. CPUs are optional, but in this instance, dual AMD EPYC 9006 SP8 CPUs with a package power tracking (PPT) rating of up to 600W are supported. The front of the Gigabyte G2L5-DR4 GPU Server chassis has 8x E1.S Gen6 NVMe drives via CX-9. There are also 2x PCIe Gen4 x4 slots on the system board for up to 2x M.2 NVMe drives. Many of the components in this system are direct liquid-cooled and include the CPUs, modular GPU, memory modules, and PCIe.

There are 32x DDR5 memory module slots on the system board. Memory modules supported include Registered DIMMs and Multiplexed Rank DIMMs, offering speeds of 8000MT/s or 12800MT/s, respectively. The system plugs into an open compute project (OCP) compatible rack with integrated power provided by a 54V DC Bus Bar power solution at the back. A single full-height, full-length PCIe Gen6 x16 slot is reserved for an NVIDIA BlueField-4 DPU.
