The hybrid backplane can be configured with NVMe, SATA, or SAS drives, but a SAS card is required for SAS devices support. GPUs from manufacturers like AMD, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and Xilinx can be used to accelerate high-performance computing applications. At 4U, the system is compatible with dual Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs of the 4th and 5th generation, including Max series CPUs with a thermal design power (TDP) of up to 350W. Up to 8TB of DDR5 memory can be delivered with a maximum memory speed of up to 5600MHz.
With support for 8x dual-slot GPUs this is an excellent platform for supporting applications in AI, AI Training, AI inference and high-performance computing. In addition to the front drive bay panels, the G493-SB3 server offers 1x M.2 PCIe Gen3 x1 slot to support 2280 and 22110 form factor cards. Built to accelerate artificial intelligence, the system offers 8x PCIe Gen5 x16 slots that are full-height, full–length for GPUs, as well as 8x PCIe Gen5 x16 low-profile slots on the rear and an additional two on the front side. Using the Gigabyte Management Console or the Aspeed AST2600 management controller, users can control the system's fan speed, CPU temperature, and other parameters using two 10Gb/s BASE-T LAN connections via Intel X710-AT2 and one dedicated management port. This platform is powered by 3+1 3000W (240V) 80 PLUS Titanium redundant power supplies.
