The dual-socket, 4U Gigabyte G493-ZB3 server supports 4th Generation AMD EPYC 9004 series processors including those featuring AMD 3D V-Cache Technology. With a configurable thermal design power (cTDP) of up to 300W, CPUs with up to 128 cores, 256 threads per CPU can be installed. Contingent support is available for CPUs with up to 400W under limited thermal conditions. 12-channel memory architecture per processor support a total of 48x DDR5 memory module slots. At full capacity, the server can support a maximum of 12TB of memory using 3DS RDIMMs or up to 4TB of RAM using standard RDIMMs. The server has several storage options, including 12x 2.5" Gen5 NVMe/SATA/SAS hot-swappable bays to handle heavy workloads. Up to 8 dual slot GPUs can be installed.
If all NVME drives are installed, 6x NVMe drives are powered by one CPU, while the remaining 6x NVMe drives are supported by the second CPU. Up to 8x PCIe Gen5 x16 full-height, full-length slots for GPUs from AMD, NVIDIA, XILINX, and Qualcomm are provided by this system. A total of 10x PCIe Gen5 x16 low-profile slots are available on the chassis, with 8x on the rear and 2x on the front panel, making it ideal for AI, AI training, AI inference, and high-performance computing (HPC). The G493-ZB3 GPU server delivers 128GB/s bandwidth in PCIe 5.0 x16 lanes with enhanced I/O throughput provided by AMD's 5nm 'Zen 4' architecture.
In addition to the front panel drive bays, the system supports 2x M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 slots with support for 2280 and 22110 cards. 3+1 redundant 3000W (240V) 80 PLUS Titanium power supplies work with Gigabyte’s SmaRT technology to guard against data loss due to AC power outages. The power supply's capacitors can provide power for 10–20 ms, which is sufficient time to switch to a backup power source and continue operating. To manage the platform, including fan speed, CPU temps, and more, Administrators can use tools like Redfish API, SuperDoctor 5, Super Diagnostics Offline, and IPMI 2.0 to make changes both at-chassis and remotely.
