The single-socket Gigabyte R163-SG0 server supports 4x drive bays on the front of the 1U chassis. Lime green tabs designate the four 3.5-inch bays, which can accommodate 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch Gen5 NVMe, SATA, or SAS4 hot-swappable drives. The motherboard has 1x PCIe Gen3 x4 interface that can be used to support an NVMe M.2 2280 or 22110 form factor drive for additional storage or to boot the operating system. Three PCIe 5.0 x16 FHFL extension slots and one additional OCP 3.0 PCIe Gen5 x16 slot for an optional NIC are provided. The system also supports a single FHFL PCIe Gen5 x16 for a dual slot GPU card from either AMD, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, or XILINX.
Either a 4th or 5th generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor or Intel Xeon CPU Max series CPU is supported with a thermal design power (TDP) power rating of up to 350W. The system can be equipped with Intel Xeon Platinum, Intel Xeon Gold, or Intel Xeon Silver Processors with up to 64 cores. It has 8-channel memory architecture and can be outfitted with up to 16x DDR5 DIMMs with 2x DIMMs per channel. When loaded to capacity with 128GB RDIMMs in each memory module slot, the system can accommodate up to 2TB of memory. Up to 4TB of RAM is possible with the installation of 3DS RDIMMs in all available slots—a twofold increase. The maximum memory speed is 4800MHz but memory speed is dependent on the CPU, configuration, and installed memory modules.
