The front of the Intel-based chassis features and for 8x 3.5”/2.5” SATA/SAS4 hot-swappable drive bays with blue tabs and 4x 3.5”/2.5” Gen5 NVMe/SATA/SAS4 hot-swappable bays lime green tabs. Administrators are able to deploy 1x M.2 slot on the server board with a PCIe Gen3 x4 interface to boot the OS, preserving the up front drive bays. 2x riser cards, each with a FHHL PCIe Gen5 x16 slot provide additional options for hard drive or network interface controllers. Just below these slots there are 2 x OCP 3.0 Gen5 x16 slots. The server is powered by two 1300W 80 PLUS Platinum or Titanium power supplies, depending on the model revision.

Using the dedicated 1Gb/s LAN port via Intel I210-AT, the R263-S34 chassis can be monitored and controlled by Gigabyte’s proprietary software. The Gigabyte Management Console comes pre-installed and can manage one server or a small cluster, whereas the Gigabyte Server Management suite is available for download and can oversee multiple systems or a large cluster. Both tools can be used locally and remotely.
