It supports dual 4th or 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs with a TDP of up to 350W each. With a full compliment of 3DS Registered DIMMs (RDIMM) populating all 32x DIMM slots, it can provide up to 8TB of DDR5 memory. The system has dual mezzanine slots for support of 2x OCP 3.0 cards, 6x FHFL PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and 2x LP, PCIe 5.0 x8 slots. Providing power are redundant 1+1 2000W PLUS Titanium PSUs.
For networking applications like use as a shared VPN connection, a general file server, and providing a shared Internet connection, the Gigabyte R283-S91 Server excels. There are 4x revisions with each providing options for Gen4 NVMe, SATA, and SAS storage options. However, a SAS card is required for SAS drive formats.
