Dual sockets on the Gigabyte R283-S97 Server motherboard support 4th or 5th gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, including the Intel Xeon CPU Max series.
With 32x memory module slots and CPUs delivering 8-channel memory architecture, the Gigabyte R283-S97 Server can be outfitted with 2x DIMMs per channel. This platform is designed for use as a general networking server or for use as a hybrid or private cloud server. At 2U, the system has 4x full-height, half-length PCIe 2.5 x16 slots supported in 4x risers. There are also 2x OCP 3.0 compatible mezzanine card slots also with a PCIe5.0 x16 bandwidth that can be used for additional NICs or a storage controller. CPUs are limited to a Thermal Design Power rating (TDP) of up to 350W. Powering the system are dual 1600W 80 PLUS Platinum redundant PSUs.

To help manage the system, gigabyte offers two basic software options, the Gigabyte Management Console and Gigabyte Server Management (GSM). The Gigabyte Management Console is embedded in the system and provides management for a single server or small cluster through the integrated ASPEED AST2600 baseboard management controller (BMC). Available for download, the Gigabyte Server Management software suite can help Administrators manage multiple clusters of servers simultaneously over the internet and is compatible with both Linux and Windows operating systems. Additional utilities provide optional for a command-line interface, a mobile app, and a plugin for use with VMware vCenter.
