The 2U Gigabyte R283-Z95 server, supporting dual 4nm technology AMD EPYC 9004 or 9005 series processors, provides high-performance processing for networking applications. Each CPU delivers a 12-channel memory architecture to support 24x DDR5 memory module slots with memory speeds of up to 4800MHz. When all slots are populated with 256GB 3DS RDIMM modules, up to 6TB of RAM are available. Only 2TB of memory is available when standard 96GB RDIMMs are used. 12x hybrid 3.5-inch drive bays line the front of the chassis with additional storage in rear drive cages.
CPUs compatible with this system each feature up to 192 cores, 384 threads, and a cTDP of up to 300W at ambient 35°C. Under limited conditions, EPYC 9654 supports a cTDP of up to 400W. Offering 2x OCP 3.0 slots with PCIe Gen5 x16 bandwidth, the Gigabyte R283-Z95 server also supports 5x PCIe Gen5 x16 FHHL slots that are accessible through the rear of the chassis.
There are 4x 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch Gen5 NVMe/SATA/SAS4 hot-swappable bays and 8x 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA/SAS4 hot-swappable bays that are accessible from the front of the server*. Additionally, there are dual 2.5” SATA/SAS4 hot-swappable bays on the rear. In addition to the storage bays on the front and back of the system, the motherboard supports 3x M.2 PCIe Gen3 slots for 2280 or 22110 form factor cards. To manage the platform, Gigabyte offers free-of-charge management applications via a specialized small processor built on the system. Dual 1600W (240V) 80 PLUS Titanium redundant power supplies power this system. There are 2x model revisions for this server with different power supplies.
