Gigabyte R283-Z96 Server - System Overview
The Gigabyte R283-Z96 Server performs standard networking duties such as use as a file server, hosting an Intranet, shared Internet access, and can be used as a virtual server. This is a highly scalable platform suitable for a number of diverse workloads. 9004-series processors will provide up to 128 physical cores and 256 virtual threads each with a TDP of up to 360W. On the other hand, with a cap of 400W on the TDP, 9005-series CPUs with up to 160 physical cores and up to 320 virtual threads can be installed. The system has 24 memory module slots divided between the dual processors, which support 12-channel memory architecture. Memory speeds will vary based on memory, supported CPUs and configuration.

For managing the system Gigabyte provides the pre-installed Gigabyte Management Console and Gigabyte Server Management (GSM). Both are free of charge with the Gigabyte Management Console providing management for a single server or small cluster, and GSM for large clusters of servers plus additional software suites for remote and at chassis management. A GMS plugin allows for management of VMware vCenter.
