It’s compatible with Intel Xeon 6 processors from either the 6700 series with E-Cores, 6700 series with P-Cores, or 6500 series with P-Cores. Processors with a TDP of up to 350W are supported. 16x DIMM slots per socket provide a total of 32x memory module slots. Some PCIe or memory functions might be unavailable if only one processor is installed.
Featuring CPUs with an 8-channel memory architecture, the Gigabyte R284-S90 supports RDIMMs with speeds up to 6400 MT/s, and MCR DIMMs with speeds reaching up to 8000 MT/s. Only Intel Xeon 6 CPUs with P-Cores installed in a 1 DPC configuration are compatible with MCR DIMMs. The system offers a total of 14x drive bays with 12x 3.5” Gen5 NVMe/SATA/SAS4 hot-swap bays on the front of the chassis, and an additional 2x 2.5” SATA/SAS4 hot-swap drive bays on the rear. To boot the OS, the platform supports 2x M.2 slots with a PCIe Gen5 x4 interface on the motherboard.
The R284-S90 server delivers 2x FHHL, dual-slot PCIe Gen5 x16 slots via a PCIe cable, 1x FHHL Gen5 x16 on a riser, and another FHHL Gen5 x16 on a secondary riser. Administrators can access 2x OCP 3.0 Gen5 x16 slots through the rear of the machine where the dual 1+1 redundant 2000W 80 PLUS Titanium power supplies can also be found.
Gigabyte a no cost pre-installed software, the gigabyte Management Console, to monitor and manage a single server or small cluster. For managing several clusters of servers, Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) can be downloaded and offers several other software utilities including GSM Plugin for use with VMware vCenter and a mobile app.
