HPE ProLiant DL160 Gen9 (G9) Server

Description

The HPE ProLiant DL160 Gen9 rack server is highly adaptable and designed to meet the needs of a diverse group of customers from SMBs to general IT infrastructure, Cloud, and Big Data. It replaces the HPE ProLiant DL360e Gen8, which also sported a 1u chassis and dual Xeon processors. Powering the system is either a 550W or 900W redundant power supply, and keeping it cool, a bank of up to 7 fans with +1 redundancy.

Performance

Administrators can install one or two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors supported by Intel's C610 chipset. Processors with up to 18 cores are supported on this system.

Memory

There are a total of 16 memory module slots on the system board with each processor controlling eight memory slots. Both RDIMM and LRDIMM DDR4 memory modules are supported. Using HPE SmartMemory enables other memory functions to reduce downtime. HPE SmartMemory offers up to 14% better throughput performance with advanced ECC, Online Spare Mode, and Memory Mirroring Mode. The system will support a maximum of 1TB.

Storage

Administrators can choose from either four 3.5-inch LFF, or up to eight 2.5-inch SFF storage devices to outfit the system. Both hot plug and non-hot plug versions are available. Choose from several controllers or just use the built-in Dynamic Smart Array B140i controller. The B140i controller will support one to eight SATA drives at data transmission speeds of up to 6Gb/s with RAID of 0, 1, and 5. For faster data transmission choose from either the H240 HBA or the HPE Smart Array P440 controller designed for performance applications at 12Gb/s. Using four 10TB hot plug LFF SAS or SATA drives will provide up to 40TB of storage.

Expansion

Up to three PCIe 3.0 expansion slots on two separate risers are available, depending on how many processors are installed on the system board. With a single processor, you get a maximum of two active expansion slots which can be used to support a Flexible LOM, which is only supported on one of the riser options. To activate that third expansion slot requires a second processor and riser. Riser boards will accept optional storage controllers featuring twice the throughput of the embedded controller. The system features an embedded Dual Port 361i Adapter Network Interface. An optional optical drive is available with either the 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch chassis options.

Management

HP offers several different management tools to provide better server maintenance and reduce critical downtime. HPs Integrated Lights Out (iLO) comes standard on this system. iLO gives administrators access to server health information and the ability to monitor and set server power and thermal controls on-site or remotely. Optional enterprise licenses can be purchased giving administrators even more management tools. An iLO Essentials license grants SMBs server set up via virtual media, full remote management access through the Integrated Remote Console, and faster time to resolution with proactive email notifications. The iLO Advanced license, for Enterprise businesses, grants premium remote functionality such as graphic remote console with multi-user collaboration, video record/playback, and many more advanced features. iLO makes managing your server easier than ever before.
