The HPE ProLiant DL160 Gen10 Server is designed for hybrid cloud solutions delivering performance, storage, and reliability in a 1U chassis. It supports dual 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable on the system board with each socket in charge of 8x DIMM slots. Storage options include 4x Large Form Factor (LFF) SAS/SATA drive bays or 10x Small Form Factor (SFF) SAS/SATA drive bays. 3x expansion slots are available on the rear of the chassis.
Designed for High-Performance Computing applications, the HPE ProLiant DL160 Gen10 Server features dual 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors as well as a total of 16x DIMM slots on the system board evenly divided between each CPU socket. When both CPU sockets are active a maximum of 1TB of memory is supported on this system. SAS and SATA drives are can be installed in either 4x LFF drive bays or 10x SFF drive bays.
The system board supports 2x 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. Compatible CPUs on this system includes options with the minimum 4x physical cores or the maximum of 26x physical cores. Along with these core counts, virtual thread counts range between 8x and 52x, per CPU. A bank of 6x standard fans provide cooling but can include as many as 7x fans with the addition of a redundant fan kit.
Supported drive configurations on the HPE DL160 Gen10 server include 4 x 3.5-inch drives or 8 x 2.5-inch drive. Either an optical drive or 2x additional SFF SATA/SAS drives can be installed in the media bay depending on the chassis configuration. A micro SD card slot on the motherboard, towards the back of the system, provides storage for a hypervisor. SATA HDDs and SSDs are supported natively with three SATA ports on the system board. For SAS or NVMe HDD or SSD drive support, you will need an optional SmartArray RAID controller offering transfer speeds of up to 12Gb/s.
Six memory channels are available per CPU with each channel able to house 2x DIMM slots and memory speeds ranging from 2133MHz to 2933MHz depending on processor and memory modules used. A total of 16x DIMM slots are available on the system board of the HPE ProLiant DL160 Gen10 Server, which are compatible with HPE DDR4 SmartMemory. The maximum memory configuration on this system is 1TB using 16x 64GB DDR4 Registered (RDIMM) or Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules.
The system will support a maximum of two PCIe 3.0 expansion slots with one CPU installed. With two CPUs installed, a third PCIe slot is active. There are also several options for the primary riser to support different cards, including a GPU riser, a SATA M.2 riser, an NVMe riser, and a secondary riser that supports three PCIe slots and is the only one that requires two processors. There are five USB 3.0 ports total, which is standard on all chassis with one in front, two in the back, and two internal.
Both remote and local management of the system is provided by HPE’s integrated Lights Out Standard (iLO) with intelligent provisioning. For more functionality, you can also upgrade iLO to an Advanced or Advanced Premium Security Edition with the purchase of a license.
