The HPE ProLiant Compute DL380 G12 Server can provide up to 8x PCIe 5.0 slots for expansion options. There is also an option for 2x OCP 3.0 PCIe 5.0 slots in back with an option for mounting in the front. The OCP card slots can be outfitted with several optional NICs featuring different port and link widths or a small form factor storage controller. PCIe NIC options include HPE Infiniband with 400Gb and 200Gb/s data transfer speeds. Depending on the configuration, the unit can also be outfitted with an optional optical disk drive.
For higher wattage CPUs and GPU configurations optional Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) is recommended and provides cooling plates for the CPUs with input/output tubes running to an external rack manifold. There are several options for powering the system and range from dual redundant 800W to 1800W with several options in between. To boot the system, HPE also offers a Boot Optimized Storage Device with 2x NVMe M.2 drives that can be configured in a hardware RAID for resiliency.

A dedicated RJ45 port at the rear of the chassis provides for remote management of that system through HPE’s integrated Lights Out 7 (iLO7) software utility which is embedded in the system or HPE OneView which provides a comprehensive management and monitoring utility. For remote access to the system and the full integrated remote console, plus other utilities the Advanced version of both iLO7 and HPE OneView are required. Advanced OneView provides for managing multiple generations or servers with licensing required for each attached system. There is also an iLO mobile application and a Smart Update Manager.
