Ideal for small to medium sized businesses, the HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen9 server features either two 3.5-inch storage bays or four 2.5-inch bays, both with an optical drive. This system is designed for web, edge-of-network applications, and space constrained environments.
You have three processor options depending on your business needs, either a 2-core Pentium, 2 or 4-core Intel E3-1200 v5 Series, or one 2-core Intel Core i3 CPU. The system features the C232 chipset and is powered by either a 290W FIO PSU or an optional 900W AC 240VDC redundant PSU but only with the 2.5-inch SFF chassis.
With all four memory module slots outfitted with a 16GB DDR4 memory module, memory caps out at 64GB. Memory speeds will range from 2133MHz to 2400 Mhz depending on your choice of CPU.
There are two chassis configurations for the HPE DL20 Gen9 server with one supporting a maximum of two 3.5-inch LFF drives, and the other with four 2.5-inch SFF drive bays. You also have options with storage controllers for entry, base and a performance model. Both SAS and SATA drives are supported but if you plan on using SAS drives at up to 12Gb/s, you will need the H240 FIO Smart Host Adapter. The P440 controller is also supported offering other RAID options compared to the integrated controller and the H240. Both hot plug and non-hot plug drive options are available.
There are a few riser options to choose from. Either a dual side low profile riser with two PCIe 3.0 slots with x8 bus and x8 connector widths, a Flexible LOM Riser, which is mandatory if you plan on installing a Flexible LOM, and a GPU riser with a single PCIe 3.0 x16 bus and x16 connector width. A dual port 1GB Ethernet is standard with options to upgrade to 10GbE using the optional FlexibleLOM riser and card.
All HPE DL20 Gen9 server chassis options have embedded management features with HPE’s integrated Lights Out (iLO) management utility. There are three options to choose from depending on your needs and include iLO Essentials, iLO Scale-Out, or iLO Advanced all of which offer full remote server management capabilities.
At only 1U and with a shallow depth, the HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen9 server is a great fit for space constrained environments that still need enterprise-class performance to support their business. It offers the flexibility to support a number of different workloads, and can be managed remotely using HPE’s iLO management suite.
