The HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Plus Server is designed for high-performance workloads. This system has a 1U chassis that holds dual CPU sockets compatible with 1st or 2nd Generation AMD EPYC 7000 Series Processors. Up to 32x DIMM slots on the system board are evenly split between the two CPU sockets. Depending on the configuration, it supports either 24x SFF drive bays or 12x LFF drive bays.
Designed to meet the needs of virtual desktop infrastructure, software-defined storage (SDS) and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads, the HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Plus provides security and dense deployment for space-constrained environments. Outfitted with dual 1st or 2nd Generation AMD EPYC 7000 Series Processors, it supports PCIe 4.0 slots allowing for greater expansion of the system capabilities. Up to 8TB of memory can be installed on this system.
Dual 2nd Generation AMD EPYC 7000 Series Processors provide the necessary computational power for a number of diverse workloads. A maximum of 64x Physical Cores and 128x Virtual Threads, per processor, are supported on this system. AMD EPYC CPUs also support PCIe 4.0, which offers twice the throughput compared to PCIe 3.0.
The storage options on the HPE DL385 Gen10 Plus server vary. Configurations include 8x or 12x Large Form Factor SAS/SATA/SSD drive bays with an optional 4x LFF and 2x SFF bays in the back of the system. Another option features 8x or 24x SFF SAS/SATA/SSD drive bays with 4x optional rear drive bays. The last option is 16x SFF NVMe drive bays on the front of the system. The 8-bay LFF chassis cannot be upgraded to support 12x storage bays in the field.
With 32x DIMM slots evenly divided between the two CPU sockets. With 8x memory channels per CPU, there are 16x slots per socket with each channel supporting 1x or 2x memory modules. A fully configured HPE 385 Gen10 Plus supports up to 8TB of memory. To achieve this, 32x 256GB DDR4 Load Reduced DIMM modules are installed in each memory module slot. The maximum memory speed of 3200MT/s is limited by the processor and also memory configuration. 2 DIMMs per channel will drop the supported memory speeds to 2933MT/S.
A maximum of 8x expansion slots are supported on this system depending on your choice of expansion card risers. The Primary Riser slots are controlled by Processor 1 and they include PCIe 4.0 technology with bus widths of x16 and x8. The Secondary Riser also has a similar layout with PCIe 4.0 technology and x16 or x8 bus widths.
Included in the system’s management suite is HPE’s proprietary software, integrated Lights Out (iLO) Standard, which does require a download. For additional capabilities, there’s iLO Advanced or iLO Advanced OneView, both of which can be downloaded but also require licensing. iLO is useful for out-of-band management of the system, generating alerts, allocating assets and monitoring the general health of the system.
The HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Plus is a flexible 2U server ideal for virtual machine deployment and dense high-performance computing applications. Dual AMD EPYC processors deliver 8x to 64x Physical Cores and 16x to 128x Virtual Threads, plus support for PCIe 4.0 and up to 8TB of memory. A variety of storage options give this platform the ability to support a number of mission critical workloads.
