Designed to integrate hybrid environments with enterprise business applications, the 2 configuration options supported by the Infortrend GS 1024 Gen2 Storage appliance, are differentiated by either a single controller or dual redundant controllers. The GS 1024R2C, has dual redundant controllers, while the GS 1024S2C offers a single controller. Outfitted with a single Intel Atom 4-core processor with a maximum of 4x virtual threads, single controller chassis have a default cache memory of 8GB which can be upgraded to 16GB. A maximum thermal design point of 38W is supported by both the single or dual controller options. The dual controller option has a default cache memory option of 16GB that can be upgraded to 32GB. In the event of a power failure, a super capacitor with flash module provides a means to store any active data on the memory modules in local storage. 24x 3.5-inch SAS/SATA drive bays provide the primary storage.
On the rear of the server, a single Ethernet management port is housed along with a SAS expansion port. Host ports available on the rear can be configured with 4x 16GB/s fiber Channel (FC) 4x 1GbE RJ45 ports or dual port 32GB/s FC, 10GbE SFP+, or 12Gb/s SAS ports. An additional host board option for Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) includes dual 100GbE ports, however, this configuration will require at least 24GB of memory per controller. 448x drives are supported on this system via an expansion enclosure. Additionally, utilizing a scale-out configuration with other Infortrend Series appliances, per cluster, the maximum number of drives can increase to 3136 drives. A full range of RAID options are supported. This system is powered by dual 460W 80 Plus bronze rated power supplies configured with redundancy in mind.
