Another one of the performance features on this system is GPUDirect, which bypasses the CPU and system memory to directly address the host system GPU for maximum efficiency and low latency. Housing 40x 3.5-inch drive bays, the Infortrend GS 4040 Gen3 supports both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SAS or SATA SSDs and HDDs, plus on some configurations U.2 NVMe SSDs. Via expansion enclosures, the system can supports up to 896x drives. 3584x drives are available per cluster via scale-out. There is a single Intel Xeon D processor with up to 6x cores per controller. Cache memory capacity ranges between a default of 12GB to a maximum of 192GB on each controller. Dual SAS expansion ports, a dedicated management port and 2x host board slots for optional NICs are available on the rear of each controller unit. SFP+, RJ-45 ports, Fiber Channel (FC), and SAS options grant access to varying speeds and port configurations depending on your needs. Four different platforms are available on this system.

Single controller platforms can easily be upgraded to house a second controller. SAS, SATA, and U.2 NVMe drives are supported. This appliance can be daisy-chained with other JBOD enclosures to offer up to 896x drive bays. Data security is achieved via a full range of RAID options. The Infortrend EonOne web-based management software grants access to system management tools. Dual 1200W 80 Plus Platinum power supplies power this system.
