Each of the two controllers installed in the Infortrend EonStor GS 4048UR has a single 6-core Intel Xeon D CPU. By default, the controller has 48GB of DDR4 cache memory, which can be expanded to up to 384GB of memory. With dual redundant controllers, additional expansion and host connections are via optional host boards. Each controller can be outfitted with 2x controllers, each of which includes a dedicated Ethernet management port, a mini USB connector, and a USB 3.0 port for service only. The maximum SSD cache pool supported is up to 4TB for Block Level storage applications. Another one of the performance features on this system is GPUDirect, which bypasses the CPU and system memory to directly address the host system GPU for maximum efficiency and low latency.

With 2x host board slots per controller, the system can support up to 4x separate host boards. Options for host boards include Fiber Channel, SFP+, SFP28, plus QSFP28, and QSFP56. Those last 4x host board options offer Remote Direct memory Access (RDMA) for high-speed, performance network communications. Each host board also features 2x 12Gb/s SAS connectors for attaching JBOD expansion Enclosures to the system. This GS U.2 NVMe system uses EonOne software to manage clusters, multiple appliances, system configuration, and monitor capacity usage and general performance—all from a single console. The modular design of the system delivers high-availability with a near-zero to zero recovery time objective (RTO).
