Additional InformationThis system has dual redundant controllers featuring a 5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable 12-core processor. By default, each controller offers up to 128GB DDR5 of cache memory which can be expanded to 1024GB. Achieving up to 50GB/s read and 20GB/s write throughput, the EonStor GS 5024U Storage supports data deduplication and compression to reduce the size of data and improve capacity usage.
If more performance or capacity is needed, administrators can add more expansion enclosures for up to 896 drives maximum. Through scale-up expansion, each storage appliance can be connected to a mixed selection of JBOD expansion enclosures to add up to a maximum of 896 drives controlled by a single GS 5024U storage enclosure. Through scale-out expansion, 4x GS 5024 appliances, each with connected JBOD expansion enclosures to achieve the maximum supported drives, can be combined to form a cluster for a maximum of 3584 drives. The GS 5024U is only compatible with the JB 4024U and JB 4090 expansion enclosures.
The dual redundant controller supports 6x optional host boards that are accessible through the rear of the system. Host Board ports range from 25GbE with SFP28 to 200GbE QSPF56 for Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) network interfaces along with 4x 32Gb/s Fiber channel for host connections and 2x 12Gb/s SAS connections for expansion enclosures. Those last two options do not offer RDMA. The redundant controller design prevents system downtime in the event one controller fails; the other one takes over within seconds.
