The Lenovo D3284 Direct Attached Storage is a high-density system designed for data-intensive environments like high-performance computing, Tier-3 cloud deployments, and medium-to-large enterprise data centers. Housed in a 5U enclosure, the D3284 has 2x drawers that support 42x drives, each, for a total of 84x hot-swappable 3.5-inch SAS drives. Users can daisy-chain up to 4x enclosures for a total of 336x drives, with support for up to 3x server connections.

Built for flexibility, the D3284 allows administrators to mix high-capacity NL-SAS hard drives with high-IOPS, low-latency SSDs in the same unit, enabling a multitiered storage infrastructure within a single chassis. The enclosure is equipped with dual 12Gb SAS expander modules (ESMs) and 3x universal 4x 12Gb mini-SAS HD connectors, ensuring high-speed, reliable data transfer. Power is provided by dual redundant 2214W hot-swappable 80 Plus Platinum-certified power supplies, while 5x cooling fans keep the system running efficiently under heavy workloads.

Compatible with all Lenovo ThinkServer and System X servers, the D3284 is also a core component of the Lenovo GPFS Storage Server and Lenovo Storage DX8200N powered by NexentaStor. It uses one-third less rack space compared to traditional 2U enclosures with equivalent drive counts and fits into standard 1-meter-deep racks, making it an ideal choice for organizations looking to expand capacity.
