The Lenovo System x3650 M4 server features powerful two socket performance within a 2u space. With a large memory and storage footprint the x3650 M4 can easily accommodate business-critical workloads including cloud computing, virtual desktop, and business analytics.
The x3650 m4 uses Intel's C602J chipset to support a maximum of two processors including the Intel Xeon E5-2600 and E5-2600 v2 processors. Using top-of-the-line E5-2600 v2 processors with 12-cores per processor that's 24 total cores of processing power and 48 total threads.
Max storage for this system is not indicated as the technology continues to increase the stated capacities. This system supports a bunch of different SFF and LFF SAS/SATA SSD and HDD storage configurations including up to sixteen hot-swap 2.5-inch drives, 6x 3.5-inch drives, and a configuration that supports up to 32x 1.8-inch SSDs. Administrators can choose from several storage controllers with either 6Gb/s or 12Gb/s transfer speeds. Up to four high IOPS SSDs can also be installed on the system using PCIe SSD Adapters.
Each processor supports 12 memory slots for 24 total memory slots in a two-processor configuration. With two processors and all memory channels loaded with 32GB memory modules the system will support up to 768GB of memory. With a single processor, only 12 memory slots are active and supports half the memory capacity. Unbuffered (UDIMM), registered (RDIMM), load reduced (LRDIMM) and HyperCloud (HCDIMM) DIMM modules are supported, but cannot be mixed. The maximum operating speeds of the supported DIMM modules are dependent on the number, and type of processors, the rated processor and memory speed, and operating voltage.
Up to six PCIe expansion slots are active in a two processor configuration. All slots are PCIe 3.0 and can be used to install additional NICs, HD controllers, HBAs, and GPUs. Some of the optional cards supported on the system require a specific riser card for installation. The system will support up to four Nvidia Quadro K600 GPUs. For all other GPUs, only two are supported and only one Tesla K40c graphics co-processor. Powering all of these devices is either a 500W, 750W, or 900W high efficiency Platinum power supply.
The Integrated Management Module II (IMM2) gives administrators advanced service-processor control, monitoring, and also features an alerting function. The IMM can be updated to Advanced licensing for additional functionality and enables remote presence and blue-screen capture. All standard servers support a pop-out light path diagnostics panel on the front of the system or a basic light path diagnostics panel. All of the standard operating systems are supported including VMware ESXi, which can be installed on a USB memory key then installed in a USB socket located inside the server case.
The System X3650M4 is a very capable server platform that is adaptable to suit any business-critical application and offers extreme density in a compact 2u form factor.
