Designed for small to medium-sized businesses, the RD350 offers some powerful performance with support for the latest Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors. There's also several built-in features that improve resiliency, help manage the system, improve energy efficiency, and help save on operational costs.
Administrators can install one or two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processors with up to 14 cores and a 35MB cache. Using an appropriate v4 processor enables transfer speeds of up to 2400MHz, v3 processors will support transfer speeds of up to 2133MHz. Processor types cannot be mixed and if installing a second processor it must be the same as the first. The system is powered by either a single or dual hot-swap 450W, 550W, or 750W power supply with Gold, Platinum or Titanium power rating.
The system comes in different chassis configurations that support up to 16TB using eight 2.5-inch, hot-swap drives, or up to 32TB using 3.5-inch hot-swap or easy-swap drives. All configurations support 12GB SAS/SATA drives when paired with an optional RAID controller that also supports 12GB SAS/SATA. All hot-swap dive configurations also support an optional slim-line optical disk drive. A dedicated optional dual SD card slot on the system board supports two SD cards, which can be used to boot the system and can also be used to provide a redundant failsafe for the OS with the two cards operating in mirror mode. The system supports several optional controllers and even features an embedded RAID i110 controller for light workloads and limited SATA only RAID configurations.
Both load-reduced (LRDIMM) and registered (RDIMM) DDR4 memory modules are supported. With a dual processor configuration, and all sixteen memory slots loaded with 64GB memory modules, the system will support up to 1TB of memory.
There are two PCIe 3.0 slots, each supported on a separate riser card accessible on the back of the unit. For both PCIe slots to be active requires two processors. The expansion slots can be used to support optional internal RAID adapters, SAS adapters for external storage, HBAs, and optional network adapters for increased I/O.
Lenovo XClarity offers best-in-class enterprise management tools to automate discovery, inventory tracking, real-time monitoring, fault-detection, and alert handling. Administrators can also use Lenovo's mobile app to securely monitor the system from an Android or iOS device. There's also a suite of administrative tools for configuration and deployment, and energy management.
Lenovo's ThinkServer RD350 is a great general use platform for space constrained environments that need powerful dual-socket performance. The small densely packed case hides a surprising amount of expandability and can be configured to support a variety of common and mission-critical business applications.
