The ThinkSystem D4390 supports up to 2x expansion enclosures per host bus adapter (HBA), allowing scalability of up to 180x top-loading drives per HBA with the attachment of up to 2x daisy-chained enclosures. This system offers flexibility with mixing and matching of SAS, NL-SAS, and SSD drives for high-performance, high-capacity, or a combination of the two. The total amount of storage depends on the type of drives installed. The system is powered by 4x 1200W 80 Plus Titanium (2+2/3+1) hot-swap, redundant power supplies and kept cool by 5x hot-swap, redundant fans.
There are 2x Lenovo D4390 models.
The ThinkSystem D4390 Storage doesn't have a built-in web interface or active network port for managing the system, so everything must be done through special commands sent over the SAS connection. To make this easier, Lenovo provides a tool called Lenstor that helps with updating firmware, checking system health, collecting logs, and managing other settings. Lenstor runs on Linux systems like RedHat and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), and Windows Server operating systems. Lenstor is exclusively designed for the ThinkSystem D4390 enclosure, allowing hosts with either non-RAID or RAID adapters installed and connected to the D4390 to interact with the enclosures.
