Each CPU in the ThinkSystem SD535 V3 Node Server oversees 12x DDDR5 memory module slots supporting up to 1.5TB of memory when using 128GB 3DS RDIMMs. Both the 9005 and 9004-seroes processors support a 12-channel memory architecture, for 1x DIMM per Channel with a full complement of memory modules. Depending on the processor generation, memory speeds operate at 6400MHz with 5th Gen and 4800MHz with 4th Gen. The front panel of each SD535 V3 server includes 6x 2.5-inch hot-swap SSDs for either SAS, SATA, or NVMe PCIe 5.0 x4 configurations. Similarly, the system offers up to 4x M.2 SATA or NVMe drives to boot the operating system. Two of these M.2 drives are installed on an adapter with built-in RAID-1 support, while the other two are mounted directly on the system board.

It includes a PCIe 5.0 x16 low profile, half-length slot for high-speed network and storage adapters or a single GPU. 1x single-wide 75W GPU such as the NVIDIA L4 24GB PCIe Gen4 Passive cooling GPU can be installed. Some configurations also feature an internal (CFF) slot for a RAID adapter dedicated to internal storage. For additional connectivity, the Lenovo SD535 V3 Node server provides an OCP 3.0 slot with a PCIe 5.0 x16 interface, supporting a wide range of Ethernet network adapters. To enhance thermal efficiency, the SD535 offers Lenovo Neptune Core open-loop water cooling, which dissipates heat from the CPU using liquid cooling. The system is equipped with up to 4x 40mm simple-swap dual-rotor fans with N+1 rotor-redundancy. Only 3x fans are required when water cooling is in use.
For mobile management, the XClarity Mobile app includes a tethering function that allows users to connect an Android or iOS device via USB to monitor the system’s status in real time. In addition, a MicroSD card slot is available for the XClarity Controller (XCC), enabling Remote Disk on Card (RDOC) or for storing firmware updates to simplify maintenance and recovery.
