Various workloads can be accommodated by the ThinkSystem SR680a V3 server via its 8x high-performance NVIDIA SXM form factor GPUs featuring high-speed NVLink interconnects at up to 900GB/s. The system supports the NVIDIA H100 700W GPU with 80GB HBM3 GPU memory or the NVIDIA H200 700W GPU with 141GB HBM3 GPU memory, both with Blackwell architecture. AMD instinct MI300X GPUs are also supported and offer a similar interconnect speed of 896GB/s via Infinity Fabric.
The SR680a V3 has 16x 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays supporting PCIe 5.0 NVMe drives using 2x 8-bay drive backplanes installed at the front of the server. This machine also supports one or 2x M.2 drives on the system board with optional Intel VROC NVMe RAID support for OS boot and data storage functions.
Up to 10x PCIe 5.0 x16 slots are available on the platform with 8x PCIe 5.0 x16 FHHL slots with GPU Direct support on the front and 2x PCIe 5.0 x16 FHHL slots on the rear. The server also has 15x hot-swap redundant fans to cool all components. 5x can be found on the front to cool the CPU, memory and rear slots subsystem and the rest are rear-mounted fans for the drive bays and GPU subsystem. Eight hot-swap 2600W redundant power supplies with up to N+N redundancy and an 80 PLUS Titanium certification can be deployed.
The Lenovo SR680a V3 server utilizes an XClarity Controller 2 (XCC2) to monitor and control the system. Administrators have the option to upgrade to XCC Platinum to provide remote control (keyboard video mouse) functions, support for the mounting of remote media files, FIPS 140-3 security, enhanced NIST 800-193 support, boot capture, and other management and security features.
