The ThinkSystem SR680a V4 server offers 2x Intel Xeon 6 CPUs, each supporting TDP rating of up to 350W, up to 86 cores, and 172 threads. When all 32x DIMM slots are populated, the system delivers up to 4TB of memory with maximum speeds of 6400MHz with 1 DIMM Per Channel (1DPC). Memory speed is reduced to 5200MT/s using 2DPC. GPU acceleration comes from 8x NVIDIA HGX B300 GPUs integrated in the NVL8 complex. These GPUs connect through CX8 NVSwitch to facilitate high-bandwidth GPU-to-GPU communication.

Expansion options include 4x PCIe Gen5 x16 full-height half-length slots connected directly to the processors and 1x OCP slot. Additional connectivity is available via 8x OSFP (Octal Small Form-Factor Pluggable) connectors that link to CX8 switches, with 1x connector allocated per SXM module. On the front panel, the server offers 8x 2.5-inch hot-swap NVMe SSD bays along with 2x M.2 NVMe drives for boot, which support RAID configurations using VROC. Power redundancy is provided by up to 8x 3200 W Titanium PSUs operating at 12V in a full N+N configuration. The server employs an air-cooled design with N+1 hot-swap fans, while system management is handled by the ThinkSystem XClarity Controller 3, which includes Platform Firmware Resiliency and hardware root of trust.
