NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2080 TI GPU - System Overview

Description

Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GPU ports

As part of the RTX 20 Series, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics processing unit includes ray tracing and artificial intelligence capabilities. What makes active ray tracing so important is the ability to simulate the behavior of light on objects and the transformative effects of surfaces and textures on how it is rendered. In other words, ray tracing attempts to simulate how light waves actually behave in the real world with shadows, reflections, refractions and global illumination. The 4K performance is improved over its Pascal architecture-based predecessor, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, with its support for Scalable Link Interface (SLI).

Memory

The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti has 11GB of GDDR6 memory which uses a 352-bit bus for 616GB/sec of memory bandwidth. As part of the integrated technology, users can enjoy up to four monitors with high resolution 8K (maximum digital resolution 7680 x 4320) performance.

Performance

GeForce RTX 2080 Ti power supply

Built with up to 4352 CUDA cores, creators and gamers can take advantage of the 18.6 billion transistors within the unit to take on any workload. The massive 754-square-millimeter die, which is 60% larger than the GTX 1080 Ti’s die, gives significant performance gains. There are 544 Tensor cores, 78T RTX-OPS, 68 RT cores, and 10 Giga Rays/sec. The RTX 2080 Ti supports NVIDIA’s DLSS 2.0 and Ansel, and is compatible with G-Sync and NVLink. The graphics card has two NVLink connectors along its top edge for SLI support, but only one is needed to support SLI. A second one would be useful for 8K surround output.

Cooling

The RTX 2080 Ti GPU is packed with technology to accelerate high-performance applications while keeping the system cool. NVIDIA changed its blower-style cooling to dual axial fans with a heatsink that also features a dual vapor chamber to reduce noise. The baseplate has a large surface area for heat dissipation and helps cool the memory on the back allowing the double 8-pin power connectors to use up to 260W of power.

Summary

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GPU includes significant updates compared to its predecessors, including the NVIDIA Titan V. This graphics processing unit performs faster and more efficiently with its new AI-enhanced Turing architecture supporting 4352 CUDA cores, 11GB of GDDR6 memory, and two NVLink connectors. Nvidia’s support for real-time ray tracing, plus Tensor cores for deep learning looks to accelerate any user's workloads now and into the future.
