The Supermicro 822GA-NGR3 server is an 8U platform that consists of 2x 4U trays: a motherboard tray and AI Processing (AIP) tray connected via PCIe switch. The X14 motherboard tray houses dual Intel Xeon 6900 series processors with P-cores, supporting up to 128 cores and 256 threads with a maximum TDP of 500W when air cooled. Storage on this system is provided by 8x 2.5-inch PCIe 5.0 NVMe drive bays. Similarly, there are 2x M.2 PCIe 5.0 x2 NVMe slots for more storage or to boot the operating system. On the rear, 10x high-speed system fans line the top tray while the bottom tray supports 8x 3000Wpower supply modules offering 4+4 redundancy.
Up to 6TB of memory is supported when all 24x memory module slots are populated with ECC DDR5 RDIMMs/LRDIMMs, or Multiplexed Rank DIMMs (MRDIMMs). Memory speeds range from 6400MT/s to 8800MT/s depending on the type of DIMM installed.
Administrators can use a variety of software tools from Supermicro. These tools include SuperCloud Composer, SuperServer Automation Assistant, Supermicro Thin-Agent Service, Super Diagnostics Offline, and Supermicro Server Manager. With Super Diagnostics Offline, admins can check important parts of the system like the CPU, memory, hard drives, power supply, and network connections. They can do this either through a command line (CLI) or graphical interface (GUI) on a local machine. It's also possible to run diagnostics remotely if the system is set up with Supermicro’s Server Manager or other remote tools.
