Ideal for natural language processing, AI/deep learning training, and computer vision, the Supermicro 820GH-TNR2 supports up to 8TB of DDR4 3DS LRDIMM, LRDIMM, 3DS RDIMM, and RDIMM memory. Memory speeds range from 2666MT/s to 3200MT/s depending on the type of DIMMs installed, and the memory configuration. This server also supports up to 8TB of Intel Optane PMem 200 Series with speeds of up to 3200 MT/s. The AI training SuperServer provides up to 20x hot-swap drive bays on the front of the machine, giving users two options for drive bay configurations.

To boot the operating system, the X12 motherboard holds 2x M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 (32Gb/s) SSD cards with support for 2280 and 22110 form factors. On the front of the Supermicro SuperServer 820GH-TNR2 there are 4x expansion slots for 2x PCIe 4.0 x16 FHFL slots and 2x PCIe 4.0 x8 FHFL slots, as well as 6x 400GbE QSFP-DD ports for scale-out and 1x 1GbE BaseT dedicated IPMI port. This GPU server is powered by 6x 3000W Redundant Titanium Level (96%) power supplies which can be located on the rear of the system under the 10x removable heavy-duty 80mm fans.

Administrators can utilize a range of Supermicro software tools to control the system. Among these are SuperCloud Composer, SuperServer Automation Assistant, Supermicro Server Manager, Super ThinAgent Service, and Super Diagnostics Offline. Managers can examine critical components of the system including the CPU, RAM, hard drives, and power supply using Super Diagnostics Offline. They can accomplish this via a local server’s graphical user interface (GUI) or command line interface (CLI). If the system is configured using Supermicro’s Server Manager or other remote tools, diagnostics can also be performed remotely.
