The 2U, 12-bay Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer 622BT-HNC8R supports 4-nodes, each assigned 3x hot-swap LFF NVMe, SATA, and SAS drive bays. SAS drives offer 12Gbps data transfer speeds via Broadcom 3808 in IT mode. Each hot-pluggable node can be outfitted with 1x or 2x Intel Xeon 6 6700 series processors with E-cores. Those CPUs deliver up to 144 cores and 144 threads, at a maximum TDP of up to 330W with optional liquid cooling via direct to chip (D2C) cold plate. Single CPU configurations are supported while maintaining all expansion slot functionality.
Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer 622BT-HNC8R - System Overview
With air cooling, CPUs are limited to a TDP of 165W under certain thermal conditions. In addition to the front panel storage options, the BigTwin SuperServer 622BT-HNC8R offers 2x M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe slots for 22110 form factor cards. However, optional support for up to 4x NVMe M.2 drives is via a SCC-A2NM2241GH-B1 module offering built-in HW RAID 1. Each node can be outfitted with up to 4TB of DDR5 memory operating at up to 6400MT/s when all 16x memory module slots are occupied by 256GB RDIMMs. Ideally, this system is geared towards hyperconverged infrastructure, scale-out file storage, plus back-up and recovery.
The back of the system features 2x PCIe 5.0 x16 low-profile slots, plus 1x PCIe 5.0 x16 AIOM slot compatible with an OCP 3.0 mezzanine card. 2x 3600W Redundant (1 + 1) Titanium Level (96%) power supplies are accessed through the rear. Administrators can activate various programs for management, such as SuperCloud Composer, Supermicro Think-Agent Service (TAS), Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), Super Diagnostics Offline (SDO), and SuperServer Automation Assistant (SAA).
