A single AMD EPYC 7003 or 7002 Series Processor powers each of the 8x server node on the Supermicro FatTwin A+ SuperServer F1114S-RNTR. Each node has 8x DIMM slots and 6x 2.5-inch SATA3 drive bays, which can also support NVMe storage devices. The nodes also have a PCIe 4.0 x16 low-profile riser slot for enhanced I/O or for an optional internal RAID add-on-card (AOC). The system is well suited to Hyperscale or Hyperconverged workloads, in addition to Data Center Enterprise Applications and other computational-intensive tasks.
Powered by the AMD EPYC 7003 or 7002 Series Processors, the Supermicro FatTwin F1114S-RNTR supports up to 64 cores, in a single CPU for more parallel computing needs. A BIOS update to version 2.0 is required if using a 7003 Series Processor. The thermal load limitation on this system includes support of processors with a Thermal Design Point (TDP) of 280W. Four 2200W Titanium or Platinum level redundant power supplies provide the power.
Storage on this system is provided by 6x 2.5-inch drive bays. Two of the drive bays are compatible with SATA3 or NVMe drives while the other four are SATA3 drive compatible drive bays but can support NVMe drives as an option. Four PCIe x4 slots on the mother board can support up to 4x NVMe M.2 storage devices.
AMD EPYC processors support 8x memory channels. Each node on the Supermicro F1114S-RNTR holds 8x DIMM slots with support for DDR4 memory modules. The system can be configured with up to 2TB of Registered ECC DDR4 3200 MHz Synchronous DRAM using 8x DIMMs. Compatible memory sizes include 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. Error Correction Code is also available on this system which can correct single-bit errors and detect double-bit errors.
To extend the capabilities of the Supermicro FatTwin A+ F1114S-RNTR a single PCIe 4.0 x16 (Low-profile riser) is available. An additional PCIe 4.0 x16 slot supports the Advanced I/O module. There is also a PCIe 4.0 x8 Internal RAID add-on card. Each node also has 2x USB 3.0 ports on their rear for connection to external devices.
Managing the Supermicro SuperServer F1114S-RNTR is through onboard software accessed through the dedicated RJ45 management port on the back of each server node. The Intelligent Platform Manager (IPMI) 2.0 offers KVM with dedicated LAN. Several other programs like Supermicro Server Manager, Supermicro Update Manager, SuperDoctor 5, and Watch Dog provide more options to manage the system. Remotely accessing system information is possible through a standard browser and an email client. Email notifications will be sent to your email with information about system health, fan speed, hard drive activity, and more.
The Supermicro FatTwin A+ SuperServer F1114S-RNTR is a 4U chassis offering 8x hot-plug server nodes. It’s perfect for Hyperscale or Hyperconverged workloads, plus Data Center Enterprise Applications, Scale Out Storage, and other heavy computational tasks. Each of the 8x independent hot-pluggable nodes supports a single AMD EPYC 7003 or 7002 Series Processor, a maximum of 2TB of memory, and 6x hot-swappable 2.5-inch SATA3/NVMe drive bays.
