GPUs supported on the Supermicro SuperServer 221GE-NR include the H100 NVL connected via NVIDIA’s NVLink technology for ultra-fast GPU to GPU communications with 1.8TB/s bidirectional bandwidth. With a thermal design power (TDP) range of 350W, using 4th gen Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs the system supports a maximum of 60 cores per CPU compared to a top core count of 64 physical cores per CPU with 5th generation CPUs. both generations support 8-channel memory architecture and with 16x memory module slots per CPU, up to 8TB of DDR5 memory can be installed. Memory speed is variable depending on the installed processor, memory modules, and memory configuration.
The system features 7x PCIe 5.0 x16 full-height, full-length slots. 4x of those slots are for support of GPUs, while the other 3x can be outfitted with NVIDIA BlueField-3 Data Processing Units (DPU) to support demanding accelerated compute workloads. In addition to the up-front storage, there are 2x slots on the system board for NVMe M.2 drives that can be used for additional storage or to boot the OS. There is a single RJ45 BMC LAN port on the back of the chassis.
Management of the system, is provided via Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), and Supermicro SuperDoctor 5 (SD5). There are several other utilities including Redfish API, IPMI View, and a power manager. The system is powered by 3x 2000W Redundant Titanium-grade PSUs.
