Each node on the Supermicro GrandTwin 2117GT7-DNF features 1x AMD EPYC 9006 SP7 Series processor supporting up to 256 cores and 512 threads Air-cooled configurations are rated for CPUs up to 600W TDP. With 16-channel memory architecture, there are 16x DIMM slots per node. At full capacity a maximum of 4TB of ECC DDR5 memory can be installed. Supported memory types include 8000MT/s RDIMMs and 3DS RDIMMs, as well as 12800MT/s MRDIMMs. The recommended configuration uses 16x DIMMs per node. The minimum configuration requires 1x CPU, 1x DIMM, 1x GrandTwin I/O Module, and 1x storage device per node. GPU support allows 1x double-width GPU or 2x single-width GPUs per node. PCIe 6.0 expansion is available in 3x configurations that require additional parts. The platform also supports up to 2x CXL 3.1 x16 devices.

Storage is accessed through the front of the chassis. The default layout includes 4x hot-swap 2.5-inch PCIe 6.0 NVMe drive bays. Other options expand this to 8x bays in 2.5-inch, E1.S, or E3.S 1T configurations. NVMe drives may require additional storage controllers or cables. Two optional M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe slots are available in the 2280 or 22110 form factors. Management is handled through a dedicated BMC on each node with IPMI 2.0 and Redfish support. Supported software includes SuperCloud Composer, Supermicro Server Manager, Super Diagnostics Offline, Supermicro Thin-Agent Service, and SuperServer Automation Assistant.
