Powered by 1x or 2x 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, this system supports CPUs with a physical core count of up to 40x and a count of 80x virtual threads. Processors with a Thermal Design Point (TDP) of 270W are compatible with the hardware of this system. Each active processor socket supports 4x PCIe Gen4 expansion slots.
There are a total of 6x 2.5-inch hybrid drive bays available on the Supermicro Hyper 220HE-FTNR-NEBS which are accessible from the rear of the system. With both CPU sockets active, there are a total of 32x DIMM slots available to populate on the Hyper Supermicro 220HE-FTNR-NEBS server. The CPUs and memory module slots are compatible with 3200MHz ECC DDR4 3DS Registered (RDIMM) DRAM modules or Intel Optane Persistent memory (PMem) 200 series. There are two options for maximum memory capacity on this system, the first one is 8TB which uses 32x 256GB 3DS RDIMM DRAM modules. The second option is 12TB which uses 16x 512GB PMem modules paired with 16x 256GB RDIMM modules.
System expansion is achieved through 8x PCIe Gen4 expansion slots. In order to have all 8x slots active, both processors need to be installed on this system. Network connectivity on this system is supported in 2x Advanced I/O Module (AIOM) networking slots that are OCP NIC 3.0 compatible. These AIOM slots can be outfitted with many options such as 2x 1GbE BaseT with Intel i350-AM2 or 2x 10GbE SFP+ with Intel X710-BM2.
