Offering all flash storage, the Supermicro Storage SuperServer 121E-NE3X12R is designed for software-defined storage, in-memory computing, data intensive HPC and more. With the E3.S 2T CXL devices, this system can add more memory than the CPU can physically support, increasing capacity and bandwidth, which is useful for data-intensive workloads. The memory can also be pooled, and accessed by multiple servers, thereby optimizing resources and improving efficiency. Processors are limited to a Thermal Design Power (TDP) threshold of 270W. Memory capacity is also a factor of the installed CPU, memory modules, and memory configuration.
For expansion, there are 2x PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and 2x PCIe 5.0 x16 Advanced I/O Module (AIOM) connector slots that are OCP 3.0 compliant. The E3.S 2T CXL type 3 devices are connected via a CXL 2.0 x8 connector. There are also 2x slots on the Supermicro 121E-NE3X12R system board for NVMe M.2 or SATA storage devices. Powering the system are dual, redundant 1600W Titanium level PSUs.
Supermicro provides several options for managing the system. Supermicro’s SuperDoctor 5 (SD5) provides real-time monitoring and alerts to Administrators and offers an intuitive web-based and command line interfaces for ease of use. For managing and monitoring servers in a data center from a single console, Supermicro offers Supermicro Server Manager (SSM). With SSM licensing is required for each target node. SSM is compatible with both Redfish and IPMI standards but can also be managed through the SuperDoctor 5 OS Agent. Additional management tools include, SuperCloud Composer, Supermicro Update Manager (SUM), and the Supermicro Automation Assistant (SAA).
