Description

Designed for high-density storage applications like Database Archiving, Backup Storage, Cold Storage, and Archiving, the Supermicro Storage SuperServer 540P-E1CTR60L has a 4U Rack-Mountable chassis with a single socket. Compatible with 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor, it can provide a maximum memory capacity of up to 3TB. 60x 3.5-inch hot-swap SATA3/SAS3 drive bays are accessible from the top of the system. 4x PCIe 4.0 expansion slots on the back of the system provide opportunities for expansion. Two redundant 1600W Titanium 80 Plus level power supplies power the system.

Performance

Providing compute for the supermicro superserver 540P-E1CTR60L is a single 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor. Storage

This is a top-loading system with access to up to 60x 3.5-inch SATA3/SAS3 hot-swappable drive bays. In addition, there is a single M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 or SATA M.2 slot on the system board. An optional 2.5-inch SATA3/NVMe drive cage on the rear of the system can also be installed and can provide 2x more bays. SAS3 drives are supported via Broadcom 3816. SATA RAID is available via the C621A chipset at 0, 1, 5, and 10.

Memory

Memory modules that can be installed on the Supermicro 540P-E1CTR60L include ECC DDR4 Registered DIMMs (RDIMM) or Load Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs) as well as Intel Optane Persistent Memory (PMem) 200 series. There are two maximum memory configuration options on this system. The first option uses 8x 256GB RDIMM/LRDIMM memory modules, while the second option uses 4x 256GB RDIMM/LRDIMM memory modules plus 4x 512GB PMem modules. Speeds of 3200MHz are supported depending on the installed CPU and memory modules.

Expansion

System expansion is achieved through a total of 5x PCIe 4.0 slots on the rear of the system. Three of those slots are PCIe 4.0 x8 slots while the other two slots are PCIe 4.0 x16 slots. Dual 10GbE BaseT with Intel X550 ports are available on the back of the system, which can connect this system to the rest of your IT infrastructure. Additional optional network controllers and HD controllers are supported.

Management

Supermicro provides a suite of software management options right out of the box. Watch Dog and SuperDoctor 5 are proprietary software management tools which grants access to remote management, as well management at the chassis. In addition, the system is Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0 compliant, with Supermicro Update Manager SUM, and NMI providing additional management utilities.
