The Supermicro SuperBlade 420P-1T3N is a half-height, independent blade sever that is compatible with the Supermicro SuperBlade Enclosure 820C, 820J, 820H, and 820L. The SuperBlade supports dual sockets compatible with 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. Fully configured, the system will support up to 4TB of memory. 2x hot-pluggable 2.5-inch NVMe/SATA3 drive bays can be found on the front of the blade along with a single 2.5-inch SATA3 drive bay.
The Supermicro SuperBlade 420P-1T3N is designed for Data Centers and High-Performance Computing (HPC) applications. This SuperBlade is used in Supermicro’s family of 8U SuperBlade Enclosures. These enclosures offer high-density performance and can be outfitted with up to 20x of these half-height blades. Each blade is a dual socket system compatible with 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. it offers 2x 2.5-inch hot-pluggable NVMe/SATA3 drive bays and a single 2.5-inch SATA drive bay. An optional mezzanine add on card (AOC) supports a single M.2 NVMe drive.
The dual CPU sockets support Intel’s new 3rd Generation Xeon Scalable Processors. The maximum number of cores supported by the Supermicro 420P-1T3N’s maximum Thermal Design Point (TDP) is 38x physical cores and 76x virtual threads. The thermal solutions on this system allow for a maximum TDP of 270W while using a CPU liquid cooling kit.
The front of the system holds 3x 2.5-inch drive bays. Two of the drive bays support either NVMe or SATA3 drives while the third drive bay only supports SATA3 drives. A single NVMe M.2 drive slot is also available on the system board.
Each CPU socket on this blade server supports 8x DIMM slots for a total of 16x DIMM slots if both sockets are utilized. Up to 4TB of 3DS ECC DDR4 3200 MHz Registered or Load Reduced DIMMs can be installed on the SuperBlade 420P-1T3N. Intel Optane persistent memory is also supported on this system. Memory speeds of 2933, 2666, 2400 MHz, plus 3200 MHz modules are can be used to populate this system.
To extend the capabilities of this system, a single mezzanine expansion slot can support one of three mezzanine cards. Options for these cards include an OmniPath 100Gbps card, and M.2 support card, and InfiniBand 100G EDR / 200G EDR card. The system also offers onboard dual 25G Ethernet.
System management is handled through the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0 software. The IPMI is able to provide remote access to your system through the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC). The enclosures that support this system are able to provide management options through the Chassis Management Module or CMM.
